Hope 08 is a fantastic national initiative to take the “the whole church to the whole nation for the whole year and beyond.” Hope 08 seeks to engage the whole church in social and community action, in national and local prayer gatherings, in presenting a clear demonstration of the vibrancy and diversity of the Christian faith and in proclaiming the power of Jesus to transform lives today.
The main theme behind hope 08 is to encourage unity between the churches, for purpose! Jesus prayed that the church would be one so that the world might know and believe that he has been sent into the world. (John 17 20-24)
Over recent months we have been amazed by what God is doing amongst the church leaders and churches of Rotherham Borough. Our regular Ministers Prayer Breakfasts have grown in number with over 30 ministers and leaders from many different denominations, from around the whole borough attending.
The Bible speaks clearly about the importance of unity, and we sense this is a divinely brought about moment in the history of Rotherham. We would like to encourage all to “seize the day” and join together with other believers in unity and in prayer to see this borough of Rotherham transformed by the power of God.
The Hope Rotherham website is designed to allow all the local churches to share and access information about all that we are doing together throughout this year. We hope that many people will login to these pages this year and find support information and links to all our local churches and events.
The main event of the year is Hope Rotherham, which will take pace on Saturday May 10th 2008 starting at 12 noon and running through to 4.00pm. It will be a borough wide event in All-saints square in Rotherham. We believe this will be an opportunity to showcase and demonstrate to the borough of Rotherham the rich, ethical and cultural heritage of the Christian church in the Borough.
